Now that the election is complete and the next administration is returning in 2025, we thought it may be helpful to remind ourselves of God’s sovereignty over the nations. Last year Pastors Mike and Nathan had a conversation about the prophecies of Daniel and how God’s revelation about future nations bring us great comfort and hope.
In a world filled with political change and uncertainty, the prophecies of Daniel offer a comforting reminder of God’s sovereignty. Daniel, a young nobleman exiled to Babylon, received visions that revealed God’s control over the rise and fall of empires. Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of a statue and Daniel’s vision of four beasts both symbolize successive kingdoms, ultimately leading to the establishment of God’s eternal kingdom. These prophecies highlight that no matter how powerful a kingdom may seem, it is ultimately under God’s authority. The ‘Son of Man’ in Daniel’s vision, a clear reference to Jesus, will establish an everlasting kingdom. This future hope encourages us to trust in God’s plan and live faithfully, knowing that His kingdom is unshakable. Reflecting on these prophecies, we are reminded to practice humility, trust in God’s sovereignty, and live with the assurance that His plan is unfolding, even amidst present-day uncertainties.
